The AgSTAR Program is a voluntary effort jointly sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program encourages the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies at the confined animal feeding operations that manage manure as liquids or slurries. EnSave is currently working with the Acadiana RC&D to provide audits to farmers enrolled in the Renewable Energy and Conservation Pilot Project in Louisiana. To date, three farms involved in poultry, rice and crawfish production have received energy audits. Their audits focused on irrigation and grain drying practices, and included suggested upgrades that would improve the energy efficiency of their operation without compromising their productivity. EnSave supports the American agricultural sector with innovative energy efficiency and resource conservation solutions.
